"Ready or Not, Here I Come!"

Recently, my husband and my daughter were playing Hide and Seek, a favorite in our household. As my husband took his turn to hide, my daughter counted off to allow him time to find a spot to stump her yet again. As she finished counting, I overheard her use a new phrase to announce her intention to start looking for him.
"Wherever you're not, here I come!"
Oof. If that's how she was hoping to play the game, he was going to be stuck hiding for a while!
While this was an adorable misstatement, I began to reflect on how our own search for Our Father in Heaven can sometimes feel like a frustrating game of Hide and Seek, us the frustrated child looking in all the wrong places for Him, wherever He's not. In actuality, He's always there, ready to be found, just as my husband was. And sometimes, during difficult times, we truly do look wherever God is not.
Do you know where to find God? Or do you seek pleasure, solace, or identity in places you will never find Him?
I encourage you to find an opportunity this weekend to challenge yourself physically. Choose a workout or run a distance or hike a trail that is sure to make you dig deep. What new thoughts do you have for God in these moments?
God is always ready to be found. Imagine His elation to hear us say "Here I Come!" as we search for Him daily.
